  1. Bunga Telur Daun Getah

    November 1, 2008 by admin

For those looking for something different for your bunga pahar or bunga telur to be put at each side of pelamin, maybe you can consider this bunga telur daun getah.

The design has been made special so that my client can use 50 stalks instead of 100 stalks as bunga pahar during merenjis ceremony. I added the white daun getah leaves to the bunga telur since I have leftover from making the rose buds.

Since the theme for the wedding is maroon and white, I try to incorporate both the color elements in the design.

  2. More Beading Work

    October 22, 2008 by admin

I’ve been meaning to share this particular beading work with my fellow readers but I only found the pictures from my old PC. This was taken somewhere last year and I wore this purple baju kurung during Hari Raya open house.

I used manik tabur technique for this particular beading work, using few types of manik jepun – the cylinder shape, the sequin and rice beads to fill up the space faster. It was tedious but the easiest method for newbies in beading.

For the design on the baju kurung itself, I sew the beads into a design like flower and leaves. If you find it difficult to sew the manik design freehand, you can use erasable marker and draw the design first.

It took me a few days to finally finish all the beading. It looks striking since the baju kurung itself is a plain Thai silk. Of course once you have an attire with beads like this you will need to wash it in delicate cycle or wash it by hand.

  3. Bunga Dulang Stokin In Turqoise

    September 17, 2008 by admin

Since I still have some pictures with turqoise theme, I thought it will help those looking for ideas on how to decorate their hantaran.

This is the picture of bunga dulang stokin I made for a customer’s wedding in May.

I didn’t do the hantaran for her as she bought bunga dulang and asked her neighbor to do her hantaran. The above picture was sent through email from her personal collection to show how my bunga dulang were used to decorate her hantaran. She also ordered bunga dip in turqoise and white color for her bunga pahar. I was unable to attend her wedding and take those pictures myself.

  4. Turqoise Ideas For Your Wedding

    August 20, 2008 by admin

It seems that the trend this year for wedding theme color is something to do with soft baby blue, deep turqoise and soft turqoise.

For those looking for ideas on what to give for hantaran with that kind of theme color, you can try to give something unusual like this agar-agar kering, made into rose shapes. Of course with additional ribbons, pearls and embellishments, the arrangement will be nicer.

No wedding will be complete without a bunch of specially made bunga telur or bunga pahar. Meant to be given to special guests or those who come for the merenjis ceremony, these bunga dip lily will surely bring the glamour you want for your turqoise wedding.

  5. Baju Kurung For Dinner

    June 15, 2008 by admin

I decided to accompany Hubby to his company’s annual dinner at last minute. Even though the theme is Movie Night but with the limited time, I have nothing more extravagant to wear. Plus being a spouse means I have no chance to be in the best dress nomination..heh!

I still have the leftover of the beads and sequins in pink, white and clear color so I decided to add some to the floral pattern on the sleeves.

I thought of adding more to the front side of the baju kurung, but then the clear, shiny beads were no more in stock. Maybe next time when I go shopping I will buy some more to add on the beading work so that this pink, black baju kurung will look more stylish..heh!

  6. Decoupage On Mug

    April 7, 2008 by admin

This April I am extremely packed with schedule to complete orders for May wedding. So I think the only craft class I could conduct will be decoupage.

Have a look at these two pictures. One of my students who attended the class chose this tiny motifs on the napkin and it took ages for her to cut the designs.

However once she was done cutting and ready to seal on the mug, it was just a breeze. Usually small designs take less time to paste on the surface compared to larger design. It will have less risk of air bubble and uneven coating.

  7. Frame Your Scrap Page

    December 26, 2007 by admin

For those who are new in scrapbooking, don’t despair if you find the album price is too expensive. You can start just by doing a layout and frame it, have it hang on the wall or displayed on your cabinet.

The newspaper cutting has been sprayed with Archival Mist by EK Success in order to make it acid free. I am not sure how effective it could be to treat the clippings, but that’s the best I can do to preserve the page.

I used Perhaps patterned paper by Basic Grey as it has the orange tone that I need to go along with the felt fusion border by Queen & Co.

Since I would like to emphasize the news, I try to minimize the embellishment used in the layout and only used a strip of ribbon at the botom.

I bought this clip frame from IKEA as it has glass on the outside. At least it can help reduce the dust and dirt from accumulating on the layout as I put the frame on the art rack in my living hall.

  8. Beading

    December 26, 2007 by admin

I’m not sure whether it’s a fashion trend or what, but it seems that these days in Malaysia, among Malay women, they are crazy with beading. Whether it’s on the blouse, on baju kurung or shawl, it’s a frenzy and the in thing. Everywhere at the fashion boutique they have beads on the clothing.

    manik1.jpg

So being somewhat fascinated with the art of beading, I went for a basic class and bought a few beading books. I managed to jahit manik on 3-4 old baju kurung I have in my closet. Just to give it a new, trendy beaded look.

Oh, I used manik jepun as they call it because the quality is better than the cheaper grade of beads and the color is more vibrant and long lasting.

    manik2.jpg

I am yet to try more complicated type of beading, these two are called piramid and manik beriring. As you can see the piramid design has something pyramid like, bigger and getting smaller with lesser number of beads at the end. While manik beriring is quite easy to sew, it’s just a straight stitch with a slight twist.

I’m beading on the latest baju kurung I have and hopefully I have more weddings to attend next year so that I get to wear this new beaded baju kurung..heh!

  9. Decorated Frame With Scrapbooking Materials

    December 18, 2007 by admin

I happened to spend a lot on getting scrapbooking materials from US this year so in order not to waste any of it and while my passion is still hot, I used the Prima flowers, paper ribbons, fibres, chipboard and stickers as embellishments on this wood frame.

    scrapframe1.jpg

The untreated wood frame bought from IKEA was painted using acrylic paints – white primer with Pistachio Green and since I was so eager to try the crackle medium I bought from the craft shop in One Utama, (if you look in the picture carefully), you can see the tiny crackles all over the frame.

I am still mastering the crackling techniques but for now I am running out of wood frames to try my hands on..heh! Oh, the finished frame was given to a friend for her birthday present.

  10. Turquoise Bunga Songket

    December 17, 2007 by admin

This is one of the latest bunga pahar songket I made using the turquoise songket. This time instead of the usual 2 flowers, I just made one big one at the top of the stalk and embellished the lower part of the stalk with ribbons.

    songketbirul.jpg

It is quite simple but I like the elegance design of it. Not sure if there is any client out there who would be interested to place the order though considering the price, heh!
