I finally managed to complete the order for these bunga pahar songket during Chinese New Year holiday. I have been working non stop since Christmas to make all the necessary materials. The assembling part took more time that I usually do for bunga stokin maybe because each piece has many ribbons, crystals, purple pearls and gold leaves.
I hope the client will be happy having this at the pelamin during her wedding reception.

If anyone is interested to learn decorative painting from books, this One Stroke Techniques Guide by Donna Dewberry is a good book for beginners. I’m selling this for RM45, excluded postage. I have 3 books in stock. There are 128 pages.
You get to learn all the basic materials, type of paint, basic guide on how to do the basecoating, crackle effect and spattering just to name a few.
The brand of the paint and medium used in this book is Plaid/ Folk Art. If you are in Kuala Lumpur, the brand is sold in Art Friend, The Gardens.
If you are a newbie to decorative painting, you will be surprised to find all kind and shape of brushes i.e scruffy, angle, flat, fan, filbert. Each will have different function and usage in painting.
It’s really important to basecoat the material you want to paint. To make it more interesting, there are techniques like crackle, spattering, antiquing for more effect. Some can be done before you start painting, and some after you have painted the design.
To start the one stroke techniques, you have to know how to load your brush. There are pictures to show each step. Of course with practice, you will get the feel of it and can start to paint with ease.
There are steps on how to paint rosebud using angle/angular brush.
If you have been wondering how to use fan brush, check out the worksheets on painting grass and wild flowers. It can also be used to paint waves and water.
If you want to paint on fabric, there is special medium to be added into your paint. It will help the paint to glide over the fabric.
There are many worksheets to practise the strokes, shown here are the one using flat brush and scruffy brush.
Your angle brush can also be used to make ribbon strokes and to draw vines.
In decorative painting, it is really important for you to know how to hold the brush and position your hand.

Those in Geng Decoupage have been going crazy about this pink rose napkin bought from Romantika. I managed to buy a packet and started working on it. I shaded the board with Ivory White, Pine Green and Baby Pink. Before that I painted the background in white.
It looks really sweet once I have pasted the napkin. I painted the wording salam on the board since I want to give this to my SIL as her birthday present. But then someone in the group told us that her decoupage product lost the color after a month being put outside. Another friend told that her customer complained about the same fading problem as well.
I have never encountered such problem since I usually use IHR or other high quality napkins for my decoupage work.
So to be safe I decided to touch up the rose and leaves motif in acrylic. It turns out to be more bright than the original color..huhu!
Well, I have varnished the board and decided to take chance with it. If it still fades then I know next time just to use such napkins for indoor decoration.

I completed this for a client last Christmas after working non stop on it for almost 2 months..pheww..it’s quite a challenge for me to complete any bunga pahar order these days.
So I have decided not to accept any bunga pahar order for 2013 and will focus on conducting class. If you are interested to DIY bunga pahar, you can come and join my bunga dip making class in Puchong this 17th March 2013, Sunday from 2pm till 5pm. (Refer the above announcement for details)
The fee inclusive all the materials needed during class will be RM100. You will also learn the basic technique to make bunga stokin in the class. The class is limited for 4 participants.

Saya kira 2013 mungkin tahun perkahwinan bertemakan warna dusty pink/mauve. Ini hasil bunga tangan dari bunga dip tempahan seorang pelanggan untuk majlis bulan Februari nanti.
Warna pilihan beliau adalah dusty pink yang digabungkan dengan warna cream, disulami manik mutiara, kristal dan riben rona emas dan mauve.
Harga bermula dari RM80 untuk saiz sederhana. Tempahan untuk hand bouquet cuma akan dibuka kembali selepas bulan March 2013. Saya perlu siapkan tempahan bunga songket untuk majlis persandingan March nanti, jadi masa sangat suntuk sekarang.
Yang berminat untuk menempah bunga tangan untuk majlis persandingan/pertunangan/akad nikah anda bolehlah hantar email ke farah[at]bungatelur.com. Selain teknik asas menggunting dan menampal motif dari tisu serta mewarna medium, anda juga akan belajar cara-cara untuk menulis quote di atas medium yang telah di decoupage kan serta asas membuat shading.
Semua kemahiran asas ini boleh digunapakai apabila anda ingin menghasilkan pelbagai seni decoupage untuk hiasan rumah mahu pun sebagai hadiah kepada rakan dan saudara terdekat.

I have never done decoupage on chopping board before. This was done as part of the exchange gift program we did in Geng Decoupage group on Facebook recently.
I intentionally join such activity so that I will do something beyond my comfort level in craft.
After searching high and low for a suitable plastic chopping board, I found a good one in Daiso. It’s quite a challenge for me to decide on the motif of the napkin since I’ve never done a kitchen related craft. Luckily I found some leftover napkin with fruits motif.
The initial plan was to make maroon as the main color theme but since the napkin motifs are mostly in brown, I have to change the color theme. To trace the wording on the surface of the chopping board is quite a challenge as well since the surface is not really smooth.
Overall I am quite happy with the outcome of this chopping board. Anyone interested to order a custom made chopping board like this with wordings of your choice, please leave a comment or contact me at farah[at]bungatelur.com.

A friend ordered this as a house warming gift for her relative. I found a decoupage napkin with nature and birds motif.
I also found a great quotes that reflects family and home.
As per request, I also added motif of flowers around the board. Overall I am quite happy with the decoupage arrangement for this plaque.
Another friend is also interested with the picture of the birds but I’m not sure whether it will look good with dark purple as the color theme since the birds are in brown and dark green color tone. Will have to try it with purple theme one of these days.
