  1. Pantun On Decoupage Plaque

    July 2, 2012 by admin

I made this plaque initially for a client but since it didn’t complement her business color theme, I advertised it for sale.

A friend bought this and customized the wording on the plaque to be a 4-line Malay poems (serangkap pantun).

Luckily the decoupage flower motif is only on the left side, otherwise the pantun won’t fit on the board..heh!

I hope the recipient of this decoupage plaque will be happy. It was my first time tracing and painting the long wording like this.

Oh, BTW decoupage class for July is still available. Hurry up and sign up for 15th July, 3-5pm session. The fee is RM60, you’ll get to choose whether to learn decoupage on ceramic plate or IKEA wooden frame.

  2. Pink And White Kekwa For Sirih Junjung

    June 20, 2012 by admin

I still have a bunch of white and pink kekwa I bought for the DIY gubahan hantaran magazine photo shoot. I thought about making a more elaborate sirih junjung from the leftover of crysthanamum. The lower part which I have arranged the betel leaves (daun sireh) was the same one I used for the photo shoot.

I found the white IKEA pot in my craft room and put it in the middle of the sireh arrangement. I couldn’t find spaghnum moss to cover the top part of the florist sponge so I have to use some artificial fillers.

For the topiary I added more pink and white kekwa to cover the bottom part of the florist sponge. It was quite a challenge for me to make sure that it looks like a ball..haha!

I still make sure that I use bunga pinang, bunga kapur and gambir in the sirih junjung arrangement. It doesn’t matter what kind of style your sirih junjung might be, but the essential must be included. Otherwise it won’t be a sireh junjung, rather a floral arrangement with sireh leaves.

Oh, for this particular style of sirih junjung, I only used about 50 sirih leaves, 2 stalks of pink kekwa and 1 stalk of white kekwa.

  3. Bunga Dip Pink Purple As Bunga Dulang

I did this for a bridal magazine photo shoot next week. This is one of the 4 DIY gubahan hantaran that I have to do for the photo shoot.

I’ve never done bunga dip in shocking pink and purple so I thought this will be a good time to experiment. After all I no longer take custom made order for bunga dulang so chances like photo shoot or class sample are the time for me to try something new.

A few months ago I did the basic petals in shocking pink because I wanted to make a hand bouquet. It didn’t materialize because I was demotivated..huhu! So I decided to add on more petals and assembled them into roses, later this can be used as sample for my bunga dip class.

Bunga dip class for 17 June, 2-5pm is still available. If you are interested to make your own bunga dulang and bunga telur for wedding or engagement, join the class. The fee is RM100. Please contact via the phone number in the announcement box above or email me.

  4. Decoupage On MDF Board Plaque

I recently joined Malaysia Rose Lovers Society since I have started gardening again early this year.

Their first event was to launch the society to public by opening a booth during Hari Belia Negara 2012 in Putrajaya.

I made this plaque with the society name on MDF board as a demo for the event. It was a brief session in which I showed to those who stop by at the stage on how to do decoupage on board like this.

Later after the demo session was over, I handed the plaque to one of the society committee. They put this up at the flower arch. Nice, right?

For those interested to learn on how to make a basic decoupage item like this, you are invited to join my class on 10th June, Sunday 3-5pm. The fee for the class is RM60 inclusive of materials needed for class. You can always bring home the completed decoupage item. For the class, you can choose either ceramic plate or wooden frame with mirror from IKEA.

Please leave comment or contact me via SMS if you are interested to join the coming class.

  5. Hair Clips – Crocheted Flower and Fabric Lollipop

    May 11, 2012 by admin

It seems that every time I need to crochet a flower, I have to Google for the pattern.

I found a blog that shares a few type of flower patterns here : 10 Beautiful Ways to Crochet a Flower.

The fabric lollipop was made exclusively for the hair clip. I have to make it really small to fit on the space of the black felt. Maybe next time I should make it bigger and combine it with a tiny crochet butterfly. What do you think?

  6. Thank You Bookmarks

    May 9, 2012 by admin

I stocked up some craft books recently and to thank my buyers, I decided to make more bookmarks.

This time, after some major complaint from Hubby that I made the same style of thank you bookmarks, I decided to dig my craft stash and find some new ideas. It’s hard to be really creative and create something different when you are working on a space as small as a bookmark…(well, that’s certainly an invalid excuse for a lazy, old brain!)

Anyway, as I searched deeper in the craft box, I found the lollipop fabric I made a few months ago. After playing around with it on the plain bookmark, I thought it looks nice. I cut the leaves from Prima flower petals..heh!

I love the rose picture taken from graphicsfairy blog – French Roses Postcard. I mistakenly printed it out too big but since I wouldn’t want to waste the printer ink and my acid free paper, I decided to stamp the thank you sentiment and make a big bookmark out of it..heh! Now that I look at the picture, it reminds me of ATC (Artist Trading Card).

You should check out her blog because she has so many wonderful images that you can use for crafting.

The last one shown here is my boring, same old style of bookmark that I have been copying for the previous batch of craft book buyers. Errr..I think the quote that says with age come wisdom does ring a bell. As I celebrated my birthday last month, I did notice the sudden spike of creativity in my right brain..haha!

To all the book buyers, thank you for all your support in making crafting world a nicer place.

  7. Basic Decoupage On Picture Frame

    March 30, 2012 by admin

(Please click to view larger picture)

I made this picture frame as a farewell gift to a friend who migrated to Finland in January.

It was done in a basic decoupage technique. The wooden frame from IKEA was painted in Plaid Taffy and then I sealed the strawberry motifs. After that I varnished the whole frame.

For the inside of the frame, I used scrapbook paper and a sentiment sticker. Of course if the person wants to put any picture, the quotation can be removed later.

  8. Gubahan Bunga Dip Kotak Decoupage

This came out on 22 March 2012 in Harian Metro. The last of 4 articles.

I made bunga dulang from bunga dip to accompany the box I decoupaged. The item for barang hantaran can be put inside the round box.

  9. Gubahan Coklat Bunga Daun Getah

    March 16, 2012 by admin

This gets published in Harian Metro 15 Feb 2012. Thanks to someone who bought the copy, saved and snail mailed it to me.

(Please click image to view bigger version)

For this particular gubahan coklat for hantaran, I used rose made from daun getah (rubber tree leaves) bought from a supplier. I took out the inner petals to fit in the Ferrero Rocher inside.

It’s now available for sale at RM50 (not inclusive of the chocolate).

If you are interested to buy, please leave comment.

  10. IKEA Malma Frame For Decoupage

    March 15, 2012 by admin

(Please click to view larger image)

I bought this Malma frame from IKEA since last year and didn’t do anything with it until recently. This time using the plain color Malma frame, I painted it in Plaid Taffy. After I have decoupaged the surface with the decoupage napkin with pink rose motif I decided to apply Jo Sonja Crackle Medium on top of it.

Once it has started to crackle, I rubbed in Plaid Forest Green. The Crackle Medium used creates a tiny, porcelain like cracks that are quite hard to notice unless you rub in a second contrast color than the surface.

Oh, the wording has been printed on paper, traced on tracing paper then traced again using graphite paper on the frame surface. I colored in with black acrylic paint using a liner brush. Some people prefer to use marker pen for wording but I always color in my wording using acrylic paint. This way I don’t have to worry about the marker ink bleeds when I varnish the finish product.

Overall I was very pleased with the result. The frame has been given to a friend as a gift.
